
was the inspiration for my logo. He was an Italian printer and type designer.
The dolphin and anchor represented grace and stability. I borrowed his symbolism
substituting a swallow with oak leaves. I first saw the logotype engraved on a gold
ring belonging to John Michaels, who worked for Stevenson Lithograph. He had
an old fashoned letter press in his basement and set his type by hand.
John was a craftsman of the highest order, as was Aldus Manutius.
